Spencerian
Note: Briefly mentioned as a historical handwriting style.
An American handwriting style that supposedly ended around 1897. Dave has a 1943 letter written in Spencerian by a ship captain — an outlier that illustrates why his Handwriting History Project classification system needs to handle exceptions.
Dave: "I've got a World War II captain who gets sunk on a ship. Well, he writes a letter... in, like, 1943, he writes what my friend Don Marsh called a beautiful, careful, classic Spencerian style."
